The principle of resistive touch screen: When a person's finger presses on the surface of the touch screen, the elastic PET film will bend downwards, causing the upper and lower ITO coatings to contact each other to form touch points. ADC is used to detect the voltage at this point and calculate the coordinate values of the X-axis and Y-axis.
Touch screen POS machine manufacturers believe that the advantages and disadvantages of resistive touch screens are:
1. The resistive touch screen can only judge one touch point at a time. If there are more than two contact points, it cannot be correctly judged.
2. Resistive screens require protective film and relatively frequent calibration, but resistive touch screens are not affected by dust, water, and dirt.
3. The ITO coating of resistive touch screens is thin and brittle, and an excessively thick coating can reduce light transmittance, resulting in internal reflection and reduced clarity. Although a thin plastic protective layer is added outside the ITO, it is still easily damaged by sharp objects; Moreover, due to frequent contact, surface ITO may exhibit small cracks or even deformation after a certain period of use. If the outer ITO is slightly damaged or broken, it loses the function of a conductor and the lifespan of the touch screen is not long.
